Bluecoats Avenue is a heritage-led conversion that proves new life need not erase character. Nineteen apartments were drawn from a historic building with its identity intact — plan, proportion and materiality read as continuity, not pastiche.
The work balanced viability with restraint: understanding what the building could absorb, what the listing would permit, and how domestic life could inhabit historic rooms without domesticating them.
