A practice led by Giles.
Heritage architecture asks for judgement earned over time — and a single, accountable hand from first idea to finished building. That is how SOANE is led.
Giles is a RIBA Chartered Architect and RIBA Conservation Registrant with over two decades in practice — more than seventeen years of it spent on listed and historic buildings, from Grade II conversions to Grade I estates.
His work is conservation-led but never timid. The discipline of heritage — reading the fabric, respecting the listing, working with the grain of a building — is, in his hands, the route to value rather than a constraint upon it. The role of the architect, as he sees it, is to reveal what a building already is, and to give it a future worthy of its past.
SOANE is deliberately an all-rounder. Architecture, interiors, furniture and construction management sit under one roof, so a client deals with one practice and one standard from the first sketch to the finished room. It is a quieter way to work, and a more coherent one.
Discretion is part of the service. Many commissions are private, and shown only with permission. Conversations begin, and remain, in confidence.
