Principal architect
Sacombe House
Grade II* · HertfordshireA Grade II* estate restored as a whole — fabric repair, a new basement, roof and interiors brought into one coherent scheme.
Sacombe House demanded a scheme that treated the estate as a single organism — not a sequence of isolated repairs. The listing required respect for every layer of fabric; the client required a house fit for contemporary life.
The work spanned structure and surface: a new basement carved with care beneath historic walls, roof repairs that restored weather-tightness without compromising profile, and interiors brought into one coherent language. Conservation and ambition were held in the same hand throughout.
